The walking route, called the Gran Recorrido 1, passes through the North of Spain starting in Girona and finishing in Finisterre. The route crosses the famous pilgrims route to Santiago in Los Arcos (in the province of Navarra). The GR1 passes the doorstep of Manzanela in the passage through the province of Burgos (San Pantaleón de Losa to Corconte).

There are also many other long and short walking routes in the region, which are all well marked.
